  2. Overview

1.1 Introduction

The "TikTok Shop Seller Registration Rules" cover the requirements that individuals and businesses must meet when registering as a seller on TikTok Shop.

Important note: This rule applies to all sellers who wish to publish and sell items on TikTok Shop.

These rules are not intended to be exhaustive and do not constitute legal advice. We encourage cross-border sellers to seek independent legal advice if they have questions about the laws and regulations involving their rights to do business.

Sellers must ensure they follow the rules.

  1. definition

  • A seller is a seller who ships products from one country to another.

  • Value Added Tax Identification Number or VAT Identification Number refers to an identifier used for value-added tax purposes in many countries.

  1. Registration rules

3.1 General principles

  • When registering as a seller on TikTok Shop, sellers need to provide relevant information. When applying, sellers must provide us with the accurate legal name of the business, address, phone number, email address, and any other information we may request (for example: information identifying the beneficial owner of the business). All certificates proving the legitimacy of the business must be authentic. At the same time, the information provided by the seller must be presented in the language supported by TikTok Shop.

  • Applicants who are currently under investigation by any relevant department or have been the subject of any penalties are prohibited from registering as sellers in TikTok Shop.

  • Please note: We may also require sellers to submit supplementary documents during the review process for a second review before deciding whether to accept the applicant as a TikTok Shop seller. The platform will be based on(Seller Privacy Policy)Process any personal data provided by the seller during the application process.

  • This rule applies to sellers in the registration application stage. Completing the registration process does not guarantee that a seller will be eligible to sell products in all product categories. Sellers must follow the "TikTok Shop Prohibited Goods Rules" and the "TikTok Shop Restricted Goods Rules" to apply for the necessary approvals to sell certain goods.

  • Sellers register as sellers in TikTok Shop. Verified business entities can register up to five seller accounts in TikTok Shop.

  1. Company qualification requirements

 5.1 Business entity qualification requirements

 5.1.1 Company Registration Certificate

 All sellers must provide a valid registration certificate for their company.

 Applicants who are currently under investigation by the trade or consumer protection authorities or have been the subject of any penalties by them are prohibited from registering as sellers on TikTok Shop.

5.1.2 VAT number

 For sellers who wish to do business in a certain country (such as the United Kingdom) and are obliged to register for value-added tax (VAT) in that country, they must provide a valid VAT number when filling out the TikTok Shop registration application.

 Specific requirements for VAT numbers and/or other tax IDs are determined by the specific circumstances of each market. For more details, please contact your Operations Manager (AM).


 5.1.3 Public bank accounts

 All applicants must provide accurate international U.S. dollar account information. All submitted international U.S. dollar account information must also meet the following requirements.

  • The applicant's U.S. dollar collection account number must be accurately displayed.

  • The international USD account number provided by the applicant must be an internationally renowned wallet USD account, and the USD account name must be consistent with the name of the corporate entity on any certificate or company registration document submitted by the applicant.

 5.2 Personal qualification requirements

5.2.1 Identity verification of legal representative

 The seller’s authorized representative (such as a director or actual controller) must submit an identity document in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the “TikTok Shop Seller Registration Rules”.

 Authorized representatives must also take and submit a photo of themselves. Here are the photo submission requirements:

  • Any photos submitted must be taken within the past 90 days.

  • The photo must show the authorized representative holding their appropriate identification.

  • The photo must show the face and arms of the authorized representative.

  • All information on authorized representatives must be clear and visible.

5.2.2 Identity verification of the ultimate beneficial owner of the enterprise

 We can conduct compliance screening on the ultimate beneficial owner of the business and may require you to additionally submit detailed identification documents of the ultimate beneficial owner during the review process.

 5.3 Supplementary information

 In addition to the above information, TikTok Shop may also require applicants to provide further information based on the specific requirements of the applicant's target market. Applicants are encouraged to consult their legal counsel if they have questions regarding laws and regulations regarding disclosure of information.

  1. Store name rules

 All applicants must create a store name on TikTok Shop. When creating a store name, all applicants must strictly adhere to the following requirements. We have the right to judge at our own discretion and reject store names that do not meet TikTok Shop requirements. Store names can only be changed once a year.

  • All store names must accurately represent the applicant's business.

  • All store names cannot exceed 40 characters.

  • All store names must not contain illegal information, such as prohibited product names or discriminatory language.

  • Store names must not contain any inappropriate political language or other information that may cause misunderstanding, prejudice, controversy or have a negative impact on consumers.

  • All store names must not contain any speech or content that attacks or incites hate against individuals or groups.

  • We don't allow store names that contain sexually suggestive or explicit content.

  • We do not allow store names to contain any insulting content, including but not limited to threats of violence, sexual harassment, or denigrating remarks about appearance, intelligence, personality traits, and hygiene.

  • We do not allow any store name to mention "TikTok" without the prior written permission of TikTok Shop. Similarly, we do not allow terms related to third-party platforms to appear in store names (for example: Lazada, Shopee, Amazon, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) without authorization.

  • The store name may not contain any brand name without the written permission of the relevant brand owner. Additionally, all store names must not be misleading about any third-party branding. If an applicant uses "official," "flagship," "authorized," "brand" or similar words in their store name, the applicant must submit the necessary authorization from the brand owner. Please note: This requirement also applies to all TikTok user profiles.

  • We don't allow store names to contain any comparative or exaggerated words, such as "better," "best," "contrast," etc.

  • We do not allow applicants to copy the store names of other sellers in TikTok Shop.

  • All store names must not contain any external contact information or website, such as phone numbers, social media account information, "http" links, ".com" domain names, etc.

  • All store names must be in the official language of the local market supported by TikTok.

  • All store names must not contain text strings, must not contain only alphanumeric characters, and must not contain special characters (for example: *, \, ?, ]). Purely numeric store names are also not allowed.

  • All store names must not contain purely generic words or purely category names that cannot clearly represent the business entity, such as: "car", "shop", "store", etc.

  • After the new store is approved, it will default to a five-star store. Generally, store products will display recommended products based on self-traffic.

  • The payment cycle is T+0 (customers confirm receipt and can withdraw money immediately). Advantages of 5-star stores: The mall will give priority to stores with high stars for store promotion, traffic exposure, etc.

  • Once a warning is issued, the store's reputation will be reduced. Store refund is T+3 (withdrawal can be made within 3 working days after receipt is confirmed)

  • Second warning, the store's reputation will be reduced. Store refund is T+7 (refund once in 7 working days)

  • After three warnings, the store's reputation will be reduced. Store repayment T+15 (repayment once every 15 days)

  • Fourth warning to store closure departmentOnly after completing all orders in the store can the store use permissions be restored. Wait for the system accounting to be completed before restoring store usage rights. After the store's reputation is restored, the refund will be withdrawn at T+3.

  • If the order is processed in time within 3 days, the withdrawal will be restored to T+0.

  • After the customer purchases the goods and pays, the order will be processed and shipped within 24 hours.

  • For orders processed over 24 hours, a reminder will be sent.

  • After 48 hours, send a warning.

  1. Qualification Management Policy

The qualification documents submitted by the seller must meet the following conditions:

  • Authenticity: Sellers must ensure that the qualification documents provided have not been stolen, forged or tampered with. If the qualification materials provided by the merchant are issued by a third party, be sure to verify the authenticity of such documents first.

  • Validity: Sellers need to ensure that the qualification documents submitted are within the validity period. If the qualification document has expired or is about to expire, please update the document in time.

  • Completeness: Sellers need to ensure that they have submitted all qualification documents required in the "Investment Criteria" and "Residence Specifications".

  • Compliance: Sellers need to ensure that the qualification documents they submit comply with the detailed requirements of national laws, regulations and platform policies.

The platform will manage the qualification documents submitted by sellers according to the following policies:

  • During the operation period, sellers need to conduct self-examination and self-review on the qualification documents they submit.

  • If a seller provides false or invalid qualification documents during the entry process, the platform has the right to permanently reject its application to register as a seller.

  • The platform will remind sellers to promptly update qualification documents that are about to expire or have expired (if the latest qualification documents are in the process of being processed, sellers need to submit the corresponding acceptance certificate).

  • The platform has the right to conduct regular or special reviews of the qualification documents submitted by sellers.

If the seller fails to submit qualification documents in accordance with the platform rules, the platform has the right toProcess applications from such sellers.

  1. Punishment measures

If additional information or materials from sellers need to be collected due to new regulations or rules, cross-border sellers will be notified and must provide corresponding supplementary information.

Cross-border sellers must declare any changes to their materials. If there are any changes to a cross-border seller's account information or related documents, TikTok Shop will conduct a second review in accordance with these seller registration rules.

TikTok Shop can review the accounts and related documents of cross-border sellers at any time. If a seller violates this rule, the platform mayMerchant Terms of ServiceTake punitive measures against its TikTok Shop account.
